To install this spiffy new start-up screen you will need to have installed the System 7.5 Update and a copy of ResEdit.
Please follow all steps exactly or you may corrupt/damage System 7.5 Update to the point of having to re-install it from the original disks.
1) Open your System Folder and locate System 7.5 Update.
2) Hilight System 7.5 Update and choose Duplicate from the File menu. This creates a copy of System 7.5 Update called System 7.5 Update copy.
3) Launch ResEdit and open Color 7.5 Update Screen 16-Bit and System 7.5 Update copy.
4) Hilight the PICT resource in Color 7.5 Update Screen 16-Bit window and select Copy from the Edit menu. Close the Color 7.5 Update Screen 16-Bit window.
5) Hilight the PICT resource in the System 7.5 Update copy window. Select Paste from the Edit Menu. Click on Yes in the dialog Box that appears.
6) Quit ResEdit and re-open your System Folder.
7) Rename System 7.5 Update to System 7.5 Update.ORIGINAL and drag it out of your System Folder onto the Desktop.
8) Rename System 7.5 Update copy to System 7.5 Update and close your System Folder.
9) Restart your Macintosh to see the new startup-screen.
You may want to keep System 7.5 Update.ORIGINAL around in case you don't like the new screen.
